Welcome to GrowNYC. By accessing our website, participating in our programs, or opting into our communication services, you agree to be bound by the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Use of the Website

The content on this website is provided for general information and educational purposes. You agree to use the site only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others.

2. Program Participation & Participant Expectations

Participation in GrowNYC programs—including Greenmarkets, Farmstands, School Gardens, and events—is a privilege, not a right. All participants, volunteers, and partners are required to adhere to our Notice of Expected Behavior.

  • Enforcement: GrowNYC reserves the right to remove any individual from a program venue or ban them from future programming if they violate this Code of Conduct or engage in behavior that threatens the safety of our staff, volunteers, or the public.
  • Staff Authority: Our staff has the authority to discontinue a program or service immediately if unacceptable behavior occurs and is not corrected.

3. Mobile Messaging (SMS) Terms

By opting into GrowNYC’s mobile messaging program, you agree to the following:

GrowNYC uses SMS/text messaging to communicate with partners, farmers, volunteers, and participants for operational and coordination purposes. You may receive text messages from GrowNYC staff regarding program logistics, volunteer scheduling, and operational updates.

In Summary:

  • Opt-In: By providing your mobile number, you agree to receive text messages from GrowNYC staff.  Customers may opt in to receive SMS messages verbally, during a conversation; by submitting an online form; or by filling out a paper form. Consent is not a condition of participation or donation.
  • Opt-Out: You may cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text “STOP” to any message. We will send a one-time confirmation of your unsubscribe request. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us.
  • Support: For help, reply “HELP” to any message or email info@grownyc.org.
  • Frequency & Rates: Message frequency varies based on your program involvement. Standard message and data rates may apply as per your mobile carrier plan.
  • Liability: Neither GrowNYC nor the mobile carriers are liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Sharing Disclosure: No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

In Detail:

1- SMS Consent Communication:
The information (Phone Numbers) obtained as part of the SMS consent process will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

2- Types of SMS Communications:
If you have consented to receive text messages from GrowNYC, you may receive messages related to the following:

  • Appointment reminders
  • Follow-up messages
  • Program logistics
  • Volunteer scheduling
  • Operational updates

Example: “Hello, this is a friendly reminder of your upcoming volunteering appointment. Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messaging at any time.”

3- Message Frequency:
Message frequency may vary depending on the type of communication. For example, you may receive up to three SMS messages per week related to your volunteering.
Example: “Message frequency may vary. You may receive up to 3 SMS messages per week regarding your volunteering.”

4- Potential Fees for SMS Messaging:
Please note that standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier’s pricing plan. These fees may vary if the message is sent domestically or internationally.

5- Opt-In Method:
You may opt-in to receive SMS messages from GrowNYC in the following ways:

  • Verbally, during a conversation
  • By submitting an online form

6- Opt-Out Method:
You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time. To do so, simply reply “STOP” to any SMS message you receive. Alternatively, you can contact us directly to request removal from our messaging list.

7- Help:
If you are experiencing any issues, you can reply with the keyword HELP. Or, you can get help directly from us at https://grownyc.org/contact/
Additional Options: If you do not wish to receive SMS messages, you can choose not to check the SMS consent box on our contact forms.
