Since 1976, GrowNYC Greenmarkets have connected regional farmers with New Yorkers across all five boroughs, shaping the city’s food culture and expanding access to seasonal, sustainably grown food.

The anniversary year culminates with In Season on September 17, 2026 at The Glasshouse overlooking Bryant Park. We are thrilled to be honoring Union Square Hospitality Group at this unforgettable evening bringing together food, sustainability, and design. Timed between Fashion Week and Climate Week, In Season celebrates Greenmarket’s rich history while spotlighting the chefs, restaurants, and innovators shaping the future of local food in our city.

For many New Yorkers, Greenmarket is more than a place to shop—it’s a connection to the seasons, the land, and the people who feed our city. Join us as we toast the past 50 years and look ahead to the next.

The GrowNYC Gala will be held on September 17, 2026 from 6:00 – 10:00 PM at the beautiful GH On The Park, at 54 W 40th Street, NYC.

Honoree Spotlights

Union Square Hospitality Group has been a steadfast partner to GrowNYC’s flagship Union Square Greenmarket since Danny Meyer opened Union Square Cafe in 1985. Since near inception, Danny’s restaurants and chefs have committed to building their menus around what is available seasonally, showing up in the wee hours of market mornings to purchase directly from the farmers. Union Square Cafe, and soon after Gramercy Tavern, Eleven Madison, and Tabla, these restaurants functioned as a catalyst for the farm-to-table movement as we know it today.
