Get More Fresh Produce for Your Family and Support Local Farmers

GrowNYC is proud to launch Grow Your SNAP, a citywide campaign that helps New Yorkers stretch their food budgets while increasing access to fresh, locally grown food. The initiative aims to expand SNAP participation at farmers markets, where shoppers can maximize their purchasing power through nutrition incentives such as Health Bucks. 

While nearly 1.8 million New Yorkers are eligible to use SNAP benefits at farmers markets, fewer than half currently do, representing a significant opportunity to improve access to healthy food and support local farmers.

By shifting perceptions and improving awareness, this campaign positions Greenmarkets as an accessible, affordable, and high-value grocery option for SNAP shoppers while simultaneously strengthening regional farm economies.

How It Works

For every $2 spent in SNAP EBT benefits at any GrowNYC Greenmarket, shoppers will receive an additional $2 in Health Bucks, up to $10 per day. This means you can double your budget for fresh fruits and vegetables every time you visit the market. Why This Matters

The Grow Your SNAP campaign builds on that longstanding commitment by helping families maximize their nutrition benefits and purchase more fresh, locally grown food. By increasing the value of SNAP dollars through incentives like Health Bucks, we are making healthy food more accessible while continuing to support regional farmers and strengthen local food systems.

  • Eligibility: All shoppers using SNAP EBT and Summer EBT benefits.
  • Locations: All GrowNYC Greenmarkets.
  • Duration: Effective immediately through December 31.
  • Daily Limit: Shoppers can earn up to $10 in Health Bucks per day.
